COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR

 

SUMMARY

Our communication coordinators partner with account and program leaders to develop and execute marketing and public relations activities for our clients. They should be a capable communication professional able to handle a broad variety of tasks with increasing independence, time management and sound judgement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guides day-to-day development of public relations activities with approved plans.

  • Attends strategy and planning meetings with the client and with other account team members.

  • Corresponds daily with clients and the media, often via telephone and email.

  • Ensures that progressive stages are approved with adequate time to meet schedules, reporting any significant changes to the team.

  • Assists in preparation of campaign proposals and budgets.

  • Proofreads copy and other media for accuracy.

  • Prepares regular client reports and attending client meetings.

  • Maintains database of media contacts and influencers.

  • Researches, writes and distributes/pitches press releases to targeted media.

  • Assists with the production of client publications, such as in-house newsletters and website copy.

  • Collates, analyzes and evaluates media coverage.

  • Assists with event management, including press conferences and promotional events.

  • Manages client social media accounts.

  • Works as part of an account team to develop client proposals and implement the PR activity.

  • Assists with new business proposals and presenting to potential new clients.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university required.

  • One to two years of related work experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Agency experience preferable

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Research skills

  • Dependable and trusted team member

  • Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Ability to provide sound counsel and be comfortable providing recommendations to clients and internal teams

  • Ability to travel to client events

  • Professional demeanor

  • Extreme attention to detail

  • Ability to excel in a team environment as well as work independently

  • Resourceful and effective problem solver

  • Has working knowledge of the following programs: MS Office, Cision, Newswise, Adobe Suite CS6, Social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram), CRMs, Hootsuite,

  • General knowledge of photography, video, or sound editing a plus

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus

Virtual and small office environment located in New Haven, Conn.

WORK HOURS

Flexible work hours are considered.

TRAVEL DEMANDS

Limited local travel and minimal air/train travel required (2-4 times a year).

DIGITAL MARKETING STRATEGIST

Big Voice Communications is passionate about driving client success. For more than 17 years, as an integrated PR/marketing agency, we have partnered with our clients to put their organization, their issues and their members on the map and have a Big Voice. Our rapidly growing, women-owned team based in New Haven, CT is looking for a skilled and results-driven digital marketing strategist to work with our clients across their digital mediums. The digital strategist will work across all our account teams to lead effective digital marketing strategies and ensuring that projects are executed on time, with precisions and within budget. You will play a pivotal role in growing our business and serving our clients.

Ideal candidates for this position should be innovative and be web and multimedia savvy. They should have a firm grasp of the various paid and organic digital opportunities, to help lead highly effective digital campaigns.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Work with account teams to create integrated and cost-effective digital strategies.

  • Research products, services and tools to identify new opportunities for our clients.

  • Analyze web traffic metrics and suggest solutions to boost web presence.

  • Monitor SEO/SEM, CRM and social performance metrics to forecast trends.

  • Build strong relationships for clients through social media interaction.

  • Measure campaigns and deliver meaningful insights to client partners for continuous improvement.

  • Create detailed recaps of campaign activations, providing clients with actionable results and recommendations.

  • Establish best practices in digital marketing for our team.

  • Stay abreast of digital technologies developments.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-3 years of proven experience in digital/social strategy, preferably at a media agency working in a team environment.

  • Degree in advertising, marketing, communication science or equivalent.

  • Experience with SEO/SEM and CRM software.

  • Experience implementing and optimizing Google Ads campaigns.

  • Solid knowledge of web analytics tools like Google Analytics.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Broad knowledge of digital best practices.

  • Firm grasp of paid and organic options for emerging digital tools.

  • Ability to apply data-driven insights to inform future strategic recommendations.

  • Creativity and the ability to brainstorm innovative ideas and collaborate with account teams to ensure all activities align with the overall strategy and message.

  • Effective communication - possess strong proficiency in the Microsoft Suite and Google and project management tools and leverage each application for clear communication.

  • Highly adaptive, insightful and perceptive.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Deadline driven and detail oriented.
