COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR
SUMMARY
Our communication coordinators partner with account and program leaders to develop and execute
marketing and public relations activities for our clients. They should be a capable communication
professional able to handle a broad variety of tasks with increasing independence, time management
and sound judgement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Guides day-to-day development of public relations activities with approved plans.

Attends strategy and planning meetings with the client and with other account team members.

Corresponds daily with clients and the media, often via telephone and email.\
-
Ensures that progressive stages are approved with adequate time to meet schedules, reporting any significant changes to the team.
-
Assists in preparation of campaign proposals and budgets.
-
Proofreads copy and other media for accuracy.
-
Prepares regular client reports and attending client meetings.
-
Maintains database of media contacts and influencers.
-
Researches, writes and distributes/pitches press releases to targeted media.
-
Assists with content creation including the production of client publications, such as in-house newsletters and website copy.
-
Assists with digital marketing strategy.
-
Collates, analyzes and evaluates media coverage.
-
Assists with event management, including press conferences and promotional events.
-
Create/generate copy and creative for client social media accounts.
-
Makes revisions to client websites as needed.
-
Works as part of an account team to develop client proposals and implement the PR activity.
-
Assists with new business proposals and presenting to potential new clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university required.
-
Two to four years of related work experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required
-
Understanding of media platforms and channels
-
Agency experience preferable
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Basic design skills
-
Research skills
-
Dependable and trusted team member

Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Strong presentation skills

Ability to provide sound counsel and be comfortable providing recommendations to clients and internal teams

Has working knowledge of the following programs: MS Office, Cision, Newswise, Canva, ZOOM,Google Suite, Adobe Suite CS6, Social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn,Instagram), CRMs, Hootsuite

General knowledge of photography, video, or sound editing a plus

Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Small office environment located in New Haven, Conn.
WORK HOURS
Full time. Flexible work hours are considered.
TRAVEL DEMANDS
Limited local travel and minimal air/train travel required (2-4 times a year).

MEDIA RELATIONS SPECIALIST
Our media relationship specialist partners with account and program leaders to develop solid media and influencer strategies that lead to coverage. They should be a capable communication professional able to develop interesting pitches, press releases and handle a broad variety of tasks with sound judgement.
RESPONSIBLITIES:

Seek out and create opportunities to place stories in all types of media (traditional, digital, influencers...)
-
Write and pitch stories that highlight our client’s thought-leadership
-
Develop compelling, media-focused content
-
Build relationships with national, regional, and trade media as well as bloggers and influencers
-
Recommend and track measurement for earned media and influencer efforts
-
Participate in and attend client meetings
-
Daily monitoring for opportunities
-
Collaborate with teams across multiple clients and be able to pivot quickly to handle changing priorities
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferably in communications, English, journalism, with 2-4 years of related experience
-
Proven experience working with media
-
A strong portfolio of story placements
-
Excellent writing and editing skills that can communicate creatively and in an engaging manner
-
Strong presentation skills
-
An understanding of earned media and experience creating media lists and plans
-
Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
-
Ability to provide sound counsel and be comfortable providing recommendations to clients
-
Ability to travel to client events
-
